In November 2024, Northern India — especially Delhi-NCR — faced a devastating attack. The impact was widespread, affecting millions, yet it didn’t dominate headlines the way it should. This isn’t a one-time incident either; it happens every single year, leaving us seemingly helpless.

According to The Hindu, Delhi recorded around 12,000 deaths annually between 2008 and 2019 due to this menace (source). Even more shocking, this “attack” claims over 2.1 million lives annually across India (source). And no, this isn’t fake news — it’s an undeniable reality.

So, why isn’t this the talk of the town? Why aren’t political leaders making promises to tackle it during elections? Why are they not luring votes in the name of this attack?

If you haven’t figured it out yet, the big bad “terrorist” I’m referring to is air pollution.
